Après la bande annonce, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness dévoile son synopsis où Strange devra affronter son double maléfique venu d'un autre univers, le Multivers étant de nouveau en place. Marvel nous promet que Sam Raimi a réalisé un film d'une ampleur gigantesque et d'une expérience visuelle sans précédent.

Maintenant qu'Iron Man et Captain America sont partis après une bataille acharnée dans Avengers : Endgame, l'ancien chirurgien et le plus puissant magicien de tous, le docteur Strange, devrait jouer un rôle actif en tant que figure centrale des Avengers. Cependant, utiliser sa magie pour manipuler le temps et l'espace à volonté avec un sort interdit a ouvert la porte à une folie mystérieuse appelée le multivers. Pour restaurer un monde où tout change, Strange demande l'aide de son allié Wong, le sorcier suprême et celle de la plus puissante sorcière rouge des Avengers, Wanda. Plus surprenant encore, la plus grande menace de l'univers ressemble exactement au docteur Strange...".
