BO US - La surprise Pikachu
Pokemon, Detective Pikachu
Dans le genre, ils ne savent plus quoi inventer à Hollywood, l'adaptation du célèbre jeu vidéo Pokemon Detective Pikachu avait tout pour se casser la figure et se faire lyncher sur la toile, mais curieusement c'est le contraire qui s'est produit, comme quoi une bonne promo peut tout.
Le sympathique film de Rob Letterman crée donc la surprise pour 58 M$ US et 170 M en Mondial, il a quand même coûté 150, mais à ce train là nul doute que l'on échappera pas à une suite et ça offre un nouveau succès à Warner.
Pas suffisant toutefois pour déloger Avengers : Endgame de la première place, qui commence à accuser le coup, mais tient bon, 723 M$ US et surtout 2 485 000 000, devenant le deuxième plus gros succès de l'histoire du cinéma derrière Avatar et battant Titanic, James Cameron a d'ailleurs félicité l'équipe.
Autrement, The Hustle, la nouvelle comédie avec Anne Hathaway et Rebel Wilson démarre honnêtement pour 13 M$ (sortie en principe en Juillet en France). Pourtant attendu, Tolkien semble être le gros échec du week-end pour 2 153 000 $, il faut voir aussi le nombre de salles, mais c'est étonnant pour un film peut être surtout attendu en Europe et en France.
Par la suite, The Intruder et Séduis-moi si tu peux atteignent pratiquement les 20 M$ tout en se maintenant bien, Breakthrough continue sur sa lancée pour un cumul de 37 M, enfin gros bide pour Poms comédie avec Diane Keaton et Pam Grier qui ouvre à 5 M.
Le week-end prochain en attendant Godzilla, John Wick reprendra du service.
