Originellement, les films d'épouvante font une chute fracassante en deuxième semaine et partent vite de l'affiche, ce ne sera pas le cas pour Smile qui non seulement reste en tête, se maintient bien mais pour un cumul de près de 50 M$ attire plus de monde. C'est encore une bonne opération pour Paramount après le carton Top Gun.
Ce n'est pas pareil pour Century Studios, la poisse continue puisque l'attendu Amsterdam ouvre à 6 M$ environ, autant dire un clair échec malgré le réalisateur David O. Russell et le casting Christian Bale, Margot Robbie. Du reste jusqu'où un studio va-t-il tenir (seul Free Guy a fait des bénéfices) jusqu'à la suite de Avatar.
Enfin, Lye Lye Crocodile (Enzo le Croco en VF) adaptation d'un livre pour enfant avec un crocodile qui chante en synthèse ouvre pour 11 M$, il est clair que Sony en attendait mieux malgré Javier Bardem qui est allé se perdre ici.
Par la suite, The Woman King cumule 54 M en se maintenant bien (le film passe inaperçu en France), Don't Worry Darling s'approche des 50 M, Avatar toujours là en totalise 23 et Barbarian 36 (maigre consolation pour Century Studios).
Le week-end prochain, c'est Halloween Ends qui arrive en force.
