Jusqu'où va s'arrêter les Minions ? Pour le fameux week-end d'Independence Day immortalisé par un certain film de Roland Emmerich, Les Minions 2 : il était une fois Gru cartonne avec 108 M$ et plus de 202 M en Mondial. Si le score ne bat pas l'ouverture du précédent il le fait avec les autres volets des aventures de Gru et ça reste étonnant. C'est aussi un nouveau bon score pour Universal avec Jurassic World : Le Monde d'après (331 M$ US-824 M Mondial) et honnête de Black Phone (48 M$ US).
Contre toute attente Elvis ne faiblit pas et cumule 67 M$ US et déjà 113 en tout devenant un des plus gros succès de Luhrmann. Top Gun : Maverick reste au top second et 564 M. Ces bons chiffres prouvent que les gens veulent aller dans les salles ce qui n'est pas vraiment le cas en France.
Enfin, par contre, le score des Minions met une véritable gifle à Pixar et Buzz l'Eclair qui n'atteint pas la même somme en trois semaines pour 105 M$ et à peine 187 en global. Une première grosse déconvenue pour le studio dont son avenir en salles semble compromis.
Le week-end prochain deuxième gros Marvel de l'année avec l'attendu Thor : Love and Thunder et le retour de Natalie Portman.
