Au XVIIIème siècle, Madame de la Pommeraye cède aux avances du Marquis des Arcis qui l'abandonne peu après, furieuse elle imagine un plan pour le déshonorer le faire tomber amoureux d'une ancienne prostituée qu'elle fait passer pour une personne noble.
Adapté de Diderot, Mademoiselle de Joncquières est une comédie en costume plutôt réjouissante qui doit surtout à ses deux interprètes Cécile de France et Edouard Baer sans compter l'actrice qui monte Alice Isaaz.
Si l'histoire met un peu de temps à démarrer, on se plaît par la suite, à voir le pauvre personnage d'Edouard Baer s'enfoncer dans le piège tendue par celui d'une plutôt détestable Cécile de France, jusqu'à une dernière partie plus grave et bien rendue où l'émotion cède au sourire.
Il faut cependant se payer des dialogues garantis d'époque dit avec un certain débit par l'actrice principale auquel il faut un moment pour s'y habituer, mais ensuite l'ensemble demeure très divertissant.
Avec en plus, un visuel, décor et costume assez chatoyant et qui fait plaisir aux yeux en CinémaScope, Mademoiselle de Joncquières est une agréable recréation dans le cinéma actuel qui diverti sans problème pendant près de deux heures, c'est déjà ça.
