Il va falloir s'y faire, Hollywood vise désormais la Chine et multiplie les co productions avec, Skyscraper, l'actuel Destination Pékin et les productions Warner qui a lancé une nouvelle filiale allant dans ce sens.
Après The Meg, c'est Crazy Rich Asians qui arrive en tête, 34 M$ pour un budget de 30, autant dire que le contrat est largement rempli et c'est un nouveau joli coup pour Warner. Signé Jon M. Chu (oui les suites de GI Joe et d'Insaisissables) avec un casting quasiment entièrement chinois (Sortie française le 10 Octobre).
En eaux troubles-The Meg se maintient pas si mal, 83 M$ US et plus de 314 M en Mondial qui l'aurait crû ?
Les deux autres nouveautés font grises mines. A commencer par le dernier Peter Berg/Mark Wahlberg 22 Miles avec Lauren Cohan et la star chinoise Iko Uwais, résultat 13 M$ US au compteur pour un thriller que l'on dit très rythmé. Wahlberg est en perte de vitesse aux Etats-Unis depuis quelques films.
Plus triste le dernier Albert Hughes (From Hell, Le livre d'Eli) Alpha qui raconte l'amitié entre un loup et un homme au temps de la préhistoire, ayant plusieurs fois changé de date, le film ouvre à 10 M$ pour un coût de 51 dur et c'est dommage car la bande annonce est très alléchante et le tournage n'a pas dû être simple, le film va aussi passé inaperçu en France face au requin géant.
Par la suite, Mission : Impossible Fallout a remboursé son budget aux Etats-Unis, 180 M$ US, plus de 501 en Mondial, Jean-Christophe & Winnie se stabilise et dépasse les 66 M, BlacKkKlansman le dernier Spike Lee est un bon petit succès avec 23 M (budget 15) et Mamma Mia ! Here We Go Again dépasse les 111 M US et les 319 dans le monde en espérant qu'il n'y aura pas de troisième opus.
Le week-end prochain, Papillon, Searching - Portée Disparue et Carnage chez les Muppets seront au programme.
