Panique chez le Père Noël, à trois jours de la fête, tous les lutins tombent malade, Santa doit aller dans le monde des humains chercher un remède, ce qui ne va pas être facile..
La nouvelle réalisation d'Alain Chabat était attendue surtout après la réussite du Marsupilami, malgré des bandes annonces sympathiques, le résultat s'avère être quand même une grosse déception.
Et pourtant, ça commence pas mal dans la ville du Père Noël, ici rebaptisé donc Santa Claus son nom et son habit vert d'origine. Il y a une certaine inventivité et l'ombre de Tim Burton n'est pas loin.
Son arrivée dans le monde humain aussi avec des blagues vues dans les trailers, une apparition amusante de Jean-Pierre Bacri en Père Noël déguisé, mais.. Par la suite, ça traîne en longueur, l'humour devient assez lourd et Chabat fait des deux gamins du couple pratiquement les vedettes du métrage dont un long dialogue entre eux assez interminable..
Heureusement, ça rebondit à la fin avec pas mal d'action et des effets spéciaux réussis, mais une fin que l'on a vu cent fois dans d'autres films de Noël..
Bref, Santa & Cie contient quelques bons moments dont une plongée dans une sorte d'univers parallèle sans rire (un peu façon Vie est belle de Capra) des effets spéciaux soignés, une Audrey Tautou excellente. Mais il faut se payer un humour souvent lourd et des enfants trop présent vite agaçants.. Ce qui fait que l'on a pas là la comédie de Noël (genre plus prisé chez les américains) espérée et on a connu Chabat plus inspiré et en meilleure forme... Revoyez plutôt Miracle sur la 34ème rue version Richard Attenborough où surtout Le Pôle Express de Zemeckis pour rêver davantage.
